Family Search Partners Overview (FamilySearch, Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast, Geneanet: How they work together and what makes them unique)
Pam Duce, Presenter
This class will review the strengths of Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast, Geneanet and American Ancestors. We will also discuss which sites interact with FamilySearch. Each are valuable in their own right.
Pam Duce has been a student of Family History for over 25 years as it seems there is always something new to learn. She has taught classes and given presentations for the last 17 years. She loves spending time with her wonderful husband Leon, amazing kids Daniel, Samuel, Marcus, Emmalee and Lizzy, her beautiful bonus daughter Kylee and adorable granddaughter, Natalie. Ancestral origins are mainly Swedish, British and Welsh with a little Eastern European.

Bonnie Mason considers herself an amateur genealogist. Since 2007 she has been volunteering for FamilySearch where she Indexes/Transcribes digitized historical documents. Since 2010 she has been volunteering for Find A Grave photographing tombstones. Since 2018 Bonnie has been volunteering in the process where she organizes digitized historical documents which could number in the thousands of images into smaller more manageable numbers for Indexing. Earlier in 2019 Bonnie discovered her biological father’s family through DNA research. Bonnie is passionate about helping people find their ancestors information and loves sharing her knowledge about technology advances. Ancestral Origins -- German, English, Scandinavian

Learn the basics of how to use RootsMagic, a software that is FamilySearch verified and integrates with the FamilyTree program easily. It makes researching, organizing, and sharing your family history easy.
Diane Loutzenhiser is a longtime resident of Sandpoint Idaho. She and her husband have raised five children and have twenty-five grandchildren. Her love of family history began at the age of eleven. She has been the Family History Director of the Sandpoint Stake Family History Center two times and has taught numerous classes from beginning computer skills to extended research. Thousands of organizations around the world house materials that can enable researchers in furthering their ancestry. Learn about organization types, how to identify those pertinent to your research needs, and ways to access their collections.
Denise Hughes has been involved with genealogy for 47 years, initially working in a major library Special Collections Department assisting patrons in researching genealogy. She authored a family history recognized by NGS and used by the US Copyright Office in rewriting the copyright laws of family histories. She has taped two courses for FamilySearch, published in periodicals domestic and abroad, and spoken at many conferences. Her areas of interest include -- introducing medieval and early modern records in England, as well as early London guild and trading company records, that can help researchers bridge cross the ocean from colonial America or expand research on known English ancestors; teaching about pre-1848 probate records in England and Wales; providing a framework for how to study surnames to localize research; and, learning how to access institutions globally to expand the resources available for conducting research. Denise is married, enjoys retirement & Church service, has three grandchildren & holds a Masters degree from BYU's Management School in Organizational Behavior. Learn numerous ways that Family History can be fun and exciting for all ages…from games to books to quilts and more.
Kristen Lorensen has been actively involved with family history for the past thirty years and has taught numerous family history classes throughout the past twenty years for different community groups. She has researched her French and German ancestral lines to the late 1500’s/early 1600’s, as well as, other ancestral lines from England, Canada, and the United States. Kristen has been a family history consultant for twenty years and an indexing director for three years. Kristen enjoys learning about her ancestors and the lessons they have taught her. She enjoys sharing what she finds with her family in several different creative ways. As her family says, “she eats, sleeps, and dreams family history”.
