President Ballard has asked that all auxiliaries incorporate more Family History into activities.

Interviewing Grandparents

Picture
Primary leaders could encourage children to write questions for their grandparents or choose from the interview questions below and send the list home along with a note to parents.

Children could report back during Sharing Time, Class, Activity Days or Cub Scouts and record their story on FamilySearch.org.

Give the Gift of Family History!

Make a personalized family Memory Game in Primary, Cub Scouts, or Activity Days.

Sets of different colors could be created for:  Family, Cousins, Aunts & Uncles, Grandparents and Great Grandparents.

Provide colored cardstock, rulers, glue, and  crayons for each child. Children cut out one color of cards, and glue two identical pictures of each relative to the back of two cards.  If they don’t have pictures, they could write the names and finish preparing the game at home.

Teach with Songs

As you bring Family History into Primary, sing songs about ancestors, Family History, and the temple (see Children’s Songbook index p 308 or search LDS.org).

Be sure to help the children make the connection between Family History and doing baptisms for the dead in the temple.  Our Senior Primary children will be YM & YW soon and able to enter the temple.

Family HIstory -- I Am Doing It on page 94 is one of my favorite songs to teach.  Try a search for this and other Primary songs, including ASL sign language and songs from the Friend.
